RAIN CHOMPER

By Deb Buschman

Bruno cowered on the front porch.

Patter, patter, plop! Snow was bad, but rain made him think of baths and he hated baths.

“Woof, woof, come play!” called Chance.

Bruno stuck his snout out. Then skittered back. “I can’t.”

“It’s fun,” called Chance as he galloped and splashed through puddles.

It did look like fun.

Bruno grabbed his trusty stuffed bunny for courage.

As his paw hit the step, rain pelted their ears.

Bruno and bunny hopped back.

A raincoat! He slid under the porch table. Caped in the tablecloth he was ready for battle.

He bravely bounded down the steps. It snagged and…Bruno was stripped.

He glared up at the rain and…chomp. Chomp, chomp, chomp!

“Hey Bruno, what are ya doing?” yelled Chance.

“I’m eating the rain so it can’t get me,” called Bruno. Chomp, Chomp! “I’m a Rain Chomper!”

“Cool, me too,” said Chance. Chomp, Chomp!
